New Year

Here we are three weeks into the new year and I am just now at the point to make my new years post. This year did not start off how I thought it would. On January 1st we lost a member of my Husbands fire department family and a very close friend. We have been dealing with heart ache and sickness, stress and frustration.

Do you ever have those times in life when you have so much you want to accomplish, goals you want to set, but it just seems like everything else gets in the way? That's when we hit our knees ask God to lead us. We should always ask God to lead every aspect of our lives but we all have to admit that there are times when we try to do it by ourselves, whether we realize we are doing that or not.

I have come to realize that God has control of me, not my emotions. That is something that is very hard for a lot of women to realize and overcome. I still struggle with this but I have faith that it will become less and less of a struggle for me and you as well.

This weekend I will be working on finalizing my goals for the year and will make post them as soon as I get a chance.

Many Blessings,
Naomi

Trials

Do you ever get in a place where you think you just cant do it? Everyone seems to be sick, laundry is piled high, you are frustrated and stressed.

I have been in that place the last week, and you know what I have discovered? I haven't asked God for help. I haven't asked Him to take over. I have tried to handle it all on my own. And now I see why I am frustrated and down.

Lord forgive me for not coming to you from the very beginning. Forgive me for trying to handle even the smallest part of my life on my own. Lord I lay it all at your feet. Lord please lead me and guide me. I have complete faith that you will lead me down the path that you want for me. Lord forgive me for not handling stress the way you have shown me to. Thank you Jesus for forgiving and saving me. You are an awesome God. In Jesus name, Amen.

Many blessing,
Naomi

Reading List 2014

Greetings ladies! I hope you are having a blessed year so far.

I am sorry it took so long for me to get my reading list together for this year. In years past I have just read what I felt like. I never took a lot of time to pray about what God wanted me to read. I was going down a path that was NOT what God had for me. I read a lot of romance that was not glorifying to God. I have asked God for forgiveness for putting smut into my mind and not things that were glorifying to Him. This year, through Gods leading, I am reading only things that are glorifying to Him. I love romance but I have finally come to the understanding that secular romance is not pleasing to God, no matter how much I tried to make it seem right.

Here is my list so far. There may be more added throughout the year.

Clutter

What is cluttering our lives, keeping us from the life God wants for us? Are we not as close to God as we used to be? Is our home not running as smoothly as it used to?

First we need to get on our knees before God, leave all of our clutter there. Ask Him what we need to do to get out lives back in order.

After we lay it all out to God it time for action. First make sure that you start your day off right, in Gods work. Then make a list of everything you are behind on in your home. Don't feel over whelmed, start slow and stay steady. It will all get done. Once it is all done make a schedule that works best for your family and stick to it. It doesn't have to be a strict schedule, whatever works best for you. Make sure that you end your day the way you started it, in Gods word.

I pray that God blesses you and your home!

Many blessings,
Naomi

Busy Day and a Heavy Heart

First I will start with the heavy heart. This past week was one of the hardest I have had in a long while. I had to make a heartbreaking decision, one I never thought I would have to make. Many times God leads us to make hard choices, ones we never would have made on our own, but God only wants the best for us and His decisions are always the right ones. I have faith that these choices will enrich my life.

Now to the busy day. I love the Christmas season because it gives me another chance to do for others. Even when there is not a lot of extra money to go around you can still find a way to be a blessing to others. I love to cook so that is how I am going to give this holiday season. I will be delivering to four different families and my Husbands fire station this afternoon/evening. I feel so blessed to be able to do this. I am thankful to God for these abilities.

What are some simple ways that you can be a blessing to someone this holiday season?

Many blessings,

Naomi

This Coming Weeks Menu

Well here I am up at the wee hours again. I have only slept about two hours. After several hours of tossing and turning I decided to just go ahead and get up. This is good thinking time for me. For a momma of four you take the quiet time whenever you can get it.
I decided to take some of this time to come up with my menu for the week. This is something my husband asked me to so and is now one of my Sunday chores. He added it to my list so that it would get done…lol. There wont be anything super inventive or really special this week. This time of the year we try to keep it as simple as possible because everything is so busy. The most time consuming thing in the kitchen will be making goodies! (Did I mention I LOVE this time of the year!!)
For my menu I will not be putting days, sometimes its best to just have a plan and pick which day as the week goes by.

Struggles and Cold Feet

Cold feet? No I’m not talking about getting married, I’m talking about actual cold feet. My Louisiana feet, that are used to 90 plus degree weather, are freezing. I want my flip flops back not big fuzzy socks.

Okay rant over lol. Now to the deep part of this post. I am struggling with something, something I cant really talk about, but I could really use prayers of enlightenment. Please pray that I follow God’s leading and not my hearts.

Many Blessings,

Naomi

Cold Winter Day Blahs

I think I have let myself get down today. I have been getting over a serious migraine, missing my best friend, the cold and flu season with asthma, four children. I’m sure we all have a large list of things, that if we let them, will bring us down.

Satan would like us to believe that we have no control over our emotions, that we feel what we feel and that’s it. Well as is anything with satan, that’s a lie. We can overcome even the most serious of “funks” with Christ. Prayer works wonders. God can bring us through the smallest of “funks”, through the largest of depressions. All we have to do is ask him and he will answer.

New Venture

I am up at a crazy hour when I should be snuggled in bed next to my wonderful husband. But to the momma of four very loud children this time of the night is so peaceful. I am sitting here, snuggled up in my husbands recliner, computer in my lap, the beautiful Christmas tree in the background, thinking about how truly blessed I am. And yet in the midst of feeling blessed my heart is burdened and weary.

This summer my 35 year old husband was diagnosed with stage two testicular cancer, tomorrow is his second set of blood work and first scan since chemo. Cancer is such an ugly word, an ugly disease, but I know that my God is stronger than any cancer, and I have faith that my wonderful, strong husband will come out on top. What a testimony he will have to give!!

Cant wait to share my stories, struggles, and whatever else may come.

Many Blessings,

Naomi

Change

I have decided to change hosting sites. I eventually want to have my own site but until then I am happier with this one. As soon as I post this I will move over all of my other posts.
